Doubling down on your bet is also allowed if your initial hand has a hard value (i.e. it does not include an Ace) of 9, 10 or 11 only. This rule is only applicable to your initial two cards, and cannot be used if you’ve split that hand.
Insurance is available if the Dealer’s upcard is an Ace. This optional side bet will cost you half your original stake and pays 2 to 1 if the Dealer reveals a Blackjack on their turn. This option can be taken for each hand you play per game, so you can take out Insurance bets on either or both hands resulting from a split.
Surrender is not available at any stage of the game to bail out a weak hand.
Table limits for Classic Blackjack provide plenty of flexibility for players with a minimum stake of £1 and a maximum of £200 per hand if you’ve got deeper pockets.
