Playtech Live Unlimited Blackjack Review
One of the natural limitations of any game of Blackjack played in the real-world is the number of seats at a given table. That means there’s a maximum number of players who can play at any one time, and unless you want to ‘bet behind’ another seated player (which requires confidence that they know good strategic play to not knacker your chances of winning) you may have to wait for a seat to become free. Even with Live Dealer Blackjack this limitation is the norm, however Playtech’s Live Unlimited Blackjack is one of the exceptions to this rule.
The core Blackjack at this table is European rules, with an eight-deck shoe in play and Blackjack paying 3/2 to deliver a theoretical RTP figure of an eye-catching 99.54% if you know your strategy. For those that like such things, there are the options of the popular 2+1 and Perfect Pairs side bets to chase bigger wins if your luck plays out from taking a chance on them.
So far, so . . . well, traditional Blackjack. With Unlimited Blackjack the big attraction is that it can handle unlimited numbers of players per game, so you’ll always get a game no matter how busy the operating casino is at the time you play.
Even though physical cards are dealt to each of the five player positions on the table, you can play them as you see fit and, indeed, play all five positions if you’re a multi-hand kind of player. Even if a ploppie (poor player) decides to hit a hand you correctly choose to stand, your choice will be honoured in the final resolution of the game even if you see a card drawn to that hand to fulfil another player’s hit decision. It all works very well, and Playtech’s software and live presentation team do an excellent job of making the whole shebang flow smoothly and impart lots of the feel of playing in a real-world club.
Naturally Live Unlimited Blackjack has some compromises in the speed of play that are necessary to enable its ‘unlimited players’ status, but we think that’s unlikely to trouble most players. Sure, the experience of playing a ‘fixed seat’ Live Dealer table is just a little more akin to the true mechanics and authentic experience you’d have in a land-based casino, but if all those tables are full, we think you’ll find Unlimited Blackjack a very acceptable alternative to waiting for a seat to free up!
