Microgaming Live Casino Review
Microgaming has an enviable reputation as one of the longest standing online casino software companies, not only being one of the true pioneers of Internet-based casino entertainment (the company was founded in 1994) but also maintaining its standing against some fierce competitive challenges in recent years.
One of those challenges has been the rise of interest in Live Casino gaming, fuelled by significant developments in consumer Internet speeds and streaming technology in the last decade.
Microgaming’s first foray into Live Dealer gaming was back in 2006, but a substantial revamp in 2010 brought the service to a much wider audience with a much-improved experience. Gone was the rather low-rent, fake green screen backgrounds and in came a classier presentation in a significantly more authentic studio set built to resemble a real-world gaming floor.
The company currently operates two studios, in Canada and the Philippines, enabling round-the-clock availability.
It would be surprising for a company with Microgaming’s heritage and experience to drop the ball when it comes to the user friendliness of its software, and indeed you’ll find it’s done a great job of integrating the live video content from its studios with an interface that lets players intuitively interact with whichever table they wish to play.
There’s also a good provision of statistical data for players who like to study the ‘form’ to influence their betting choices. Some critics have noted that there’s no live chat facility in the software, but it’s possible that has been for the reason that few players actually pay it much attention and it removes any foolish trolling of the human dealers! Personally we can forgive Microgaming this minor omission.
In terms of game choice, there’s a very pleasing selection of the usual table game suspects including Live Sic Bo, which is becoming a less common option we find these days but still is a strong draw for players from Asian territories where this game remains popular. As yet, Microgaming hasn’t been as innovative as its rival Evolution Gaming in launching tables with ‘augmented reality’ bonus features but we imagine this will change as this trend continues to attract players’ custom to these intriguing new formats.
Verdict
Microgaming’s Live Casino software offers a first-class way to enjoy traditional table gaming from the comfort of your desktop of mobile device. As mentioned above, it’s not (yet) got the more radical ‘game-show’ elements that Evolution Gaming has been successfully experimenting with, but we suspect that won’t be a deal-breaker from many potential players. For the feel of a real deal, this is an excellent name to seek out.
