Live Sic Bo Deluxe Review
It’s probably fair to say that Sic Bo hasn’t set the online casino table game world alight in the way that Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat have. This game, still popular in real-world Asian casinos, offers the fun of multi-way betting in the style of Roulette but focussed on the outcome of a three dice roll. It’s blissfully simple to learn, fast-paced and can drop some very big wins beyond those possible from Roulette, so perhaps its time has come with Playtech’s Live Sic Bo Deluxe? Let’s roll.
With Live Sic Bo Deluxe, Playtech has opted for an unorthodox presentation of this classic table game, which is certainly different! The traditional physical table layout is gone in favour of a virtual layout, and a glass-domed dice shaker takes centre stage in what looks like a large lotus flower.
The whole set has been given a faux-Oriental vibe which does feel a little cheesy and “80s Daytime TV Studio” in our opinion, but it’s not so terrible we would decline to play here. In some ways it’s got a curious retro charm.
A human host presides over all the action, and keeps it all running along at a good clip. We did experience a loss of sync between the audio and video during the review, however that didn’t impact on actual gameplay and wasn’t a consistent fault – perhaps the game’s proving so popular that the bandwidth for its stream is being pushed to its limits!
One thing that makes this Sic Bo game particularly attractive is its Deluxe element that takes advantage of the online format to add a little extra bonus fun to proceedings. Essentially going Deluxe means that one to six multipliers are randomly allocated to different bet positions every game once the dice shaker is rattling its three dice to their result.
Any successful bet in that position will then feel the benefit of having its standard pay boosted by that multiplier – and that can turn a pleasing win into something staggering if one of the bigger multipliers has been attached. How big? Well Playtech advertise a maximum multiplier of 1,000 times the standard pay, although we didn’t see it turn up during our review sessions . . . it’s out there, but it will be a rare bird for obvious reasons.
The bonus multipliers of Deluxe Sic Bo are a welcome little extra to this famous table game, and the gameshow-style presentation of this Playtech Live Dealer version seems to work rather well. If you enjoy Roulette, but fancy dabbling in something a little more exotic to shake things up a bit on your next session then may we venture that exploring the charms of Sic Bo could well be a little (or, indeed, a lot) of what you fancy?
